You may recall my editor’s letter in the June/July ‘07 issue of Barista Magazine in which I said thank you and goodbye to our original editorial advisory board. They were an awesome group, and I especially appreciate their faith in Ken’s and my vision when Barista Mag was just a crazy idea in our heads. […]
We have a stack of free passes, so let me know if you want one, and I’ll mail it to ya. I love Coffee Fest Seattle — it’s such a great show for small coffee retailers, and this year it will be even better because both the Northwest Regional Barista Competition AND the new and […]
Ever wanted to know what really goes on at the Nordic Barista Cup? Sure, you may have checked our Sarah’s and my live blogging of the event last year, something we’re doing again this year, where we write about the activities and post amusing, artistic and embarrassing pictures. And we make every effort to bring […]
Do you remember when we had a feature in Barista Magazine called “So…”? We would ask questions of people at trade shows and barista competitions, take their photos and print the whole thing in the magazine. But we thought it got kind of boring so we stopped doing it.

These are two of the […]

So I’ve been back from Tokyo for 48 hours or so now, and in that span of time I’ve enjoyed a lovely pot of Stumptown’s new Hondouran Finca El Puente Matilda, a Tanzanian from Batdorf, and the ultimate decadence of a Stumptown’s Panama Esmeralda Especial. I greatly enjoyed the brews served up on the Clover […]
When I went to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to interview and photograph Jon Lewis for the August/September issue of Barista Magazine, I took hundreds and hundreds of photos. Jessica, Barista Magazine’s amazing art director, was able to incorporate an incredible number of them into her layout for the article (partially because the article is LONG. One […]
The little guys pictured about are Jizo, the Japanese patron saint of children and travelers, and as all the people who made the 2007 WBC such a success head home, we wish them all safe journeys.
Of course the fact that this WBC was such resounding success was no accident. It was dependent on the tireless […]
