Hey Ladies! Female Farmer Takes Top Spot in 2014 Brazil COE!

lh-2014-winners

History was made in Brazil recently when for the first time ever, a woman won the country’s first place ribbon in the Cup of Excellence competition. Cinthia Dias Villela from Nossa Senhora Aparecida of the Carmo de Minas region is the big winner.

The Brazil Specialty Coffee Association has been supporting the Cup of Excellence program since the very beginning: the BSCA was a founding partner in 1999, and the site of the very first COE competition. Cinthia’s coffee scored a crazy amazing 92.22 points—a new record for the Late Harvest competition!

Coffees that score 90 or above qualify for the esteemed Cup of Excellence Presidential Award, and besides Cinthia’s coffee, two others made the grade: Lot #2, Fazenda Paraíso of Conceição das Pedras with 90.25 points and Lot #3, Sítio da Serra of Carmo de Minas at 90.19 points.
