Snuggle Up With This Gorgeous Coffee-Bag-Inspired Blanket from Café Imports

It’s always sad to see summer end, but there are certain things about winter that have us super stoked: Truly, there’s nothing like snuggling up by a roaring fire, holding a steaming cup of some fabulous holiday coffee in your hand, while wrapped in the comfort of a thick wool blanket. I know that’s something I’ve got in my mind’s eye as the weather here in Portland turns grey.

I’ve actually got it right here in front of me ”at least part of it. Café Imports just sent us the blanket of our dreams, and we’re dying to tell you all about it.

Known for their style and loyalty to American-crafted goods, the crew at Café Imports got pretty creative when imagining the perfect gift for winter: They teamed up with the good people at Fairbault Woolen Mill Co. in Minnesota (the home state to Café Imports), and used a jute coffee bag as the inspiration for one of the most beautifully made blankets we’ve ever seen.

Café Imports had a small, very special run of these blankets made, and they’re offering them up for sale as a fundraiser for Coffee Kids; every penny of the $159 price of the blankets goes to the organization dedicated to helping families in coffee farming communities.

The beautiful handcrafted blankets were produced in extremely limited numbers; there are only 25 left available, and they can only be purchased at the Big Central Barista Competition in Minneapolis, Nov. 7 “9. As if you needed an excuse to be there...

œCafé Imports decided to partner up with Faribault Woolen Mills to celebrate craftsmen and artisans, much like we do with our coffee producer partners, Noah Namowicz of Café Imports told me. œWe believe that companies like Faribault Woolen Mills produce handmade products of the highest quality, and they go through the challenges that shooting for that standard entails, again, paralleling coffee producers in their pursuit of world’s best coffees. We see these goals as the same in different ways. We want to honor anyone that chooses to go down that path. Faribault is a perfect partner for us, and Coffee Kids is an incredible organization that we have been blown away by. We thought this would be the best way to raise funds for development work at origin while creating a tangible product that everyone would love.
