Celebrity Sightings in Germany

Forget Cannes ”the big celebrities are in Cologne, Germany, this week for the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe’s Wonderful World of Coffee event, which beings tomorrow and goes through Sunday. If you consider James Hoffmann a bigger star than Michael Cera, or Bjorg Brend a cooler celeb than Angelina, Cologne is the place for you to be this weekend.

While you’re in Cologne, be sure to chat with Bjorg about attending the Nordic Barista Cup in Iceland, September 16 “19!

But of course, the biggest star of them all these days is Sir Gwilym Davies, the reigning World Barista Champion, who will be hosting all sorts of celeb activities this weekend.

On Saturday, June 27, Mr. Davies will host a viewing of his award-winning Atlanta performance at the WBC stand with a shot-by-shot commentary and analysis from 10 “11 a.m.
World Barista Championship personnel will be on-hand all weekend showing performance videos, answering questions and distributing information for anyone who may wish to compete, start a competition in their home country or sponsor an upcoming event.

Other stars in attendance? How’s about Ben Helfen, who is in Cologne to represent the United States in the World Latte Art Championship, and Ben Kaminsky, the U.S. Cup Tasting Champ, who will try to win the international crown in that event.
