Dance, Monkey! Dance?

In the future, all customers will have to perform simple dances and tricks to get their coffee.

I saw this today and couldn’t believe it was true. But apparently, it is. Wow.

As basketball season starts tomorrow (Go Blazers!), and those terrible rumors spread two years ago that Greg Oden hurt his knee playing Dance Dance Revolution, if we get any of these machine here in Portland, no Trail Blazers will be allowed to order coffee from them.

It seems that Douwe Egberts believes consumers want more interaction than they normally receive from their coffee machines, so they’ve designed a new one that operates via giant touchscreen or through motion-sensor cameras. The consumer can have the machine build their drink by playing a game like Wii Fit or dancing. It’s called BeMoved. It can also be programmed to yell at consumers, “Dance, monkey! Dance!” And, “No coffee for you! Next!” (Note: that is the author’s hypothesis only.)
