Next Up ¡Finals!

The finalists celebrate after this evening's announcement.

Twenty-six competitors have competed over the last two days here in Mexico City for the Ninth Annual Mexican Barista Championship. And as with any competition, there have been amazing performances, heartbreaking mistakes and a  reaffirming  show of community between the competitors.

The six baristas who made it to tomorrow's finals at the MBC.

The six finalists in order of their performance tomorrow are:

  1. Erika Chagoya
  2. Abel De Jesus Colmerero
  3. Ricardo Cardenas
  4. Javier Gamboa Rendon
  5. Sergio Reyes
  6. Esau Perez
The finalists get their briefing for tomorrow from Rouki and Stephen.

The day’s activities tomorrow will begin with the finals for the first ever Mexican Latte Art Championship. Remember you can watch all of it online here.

The future of Mexican coffee culture will compete tomorrow while this roaster will keep the past alive.

Seriously, this was like the oldest working roaster (that hadn’t been refurbished or rebuilt) that I’ve pretty much ever seen (not counting the ancient oven/stove roaster we saw at the Nordic Barista Cup in Gothenburg. By the way, the NBC is only a week and a half away!)

¡See you mañana!
