Barista Nation Texas, y’all! November 5

On the heels of Barista Nation’s super successful European debut in Paris a few weeks ago, comes Barista Nation Texas—yeehaw!

Barista Nation founder and head-hot-mama Anastasia Chovan says that registration was buzzing as soon as the announcement of the event was made, but there is still room for baristas far and wide to sign up to participate—and folks, this is NOT an event you want to miss!

Surely much of the reason for the excitement over this first Barista Nation Texas—which is being held in Dallas and kindly hosted by Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters—is the fantastic lineup of speakers! Check this out:

• Ernesto Menendez of Finca Las Brumas—winner of the 2012 El Salvador Cup of Excellence, mind you—will present with Shannon Neffendorf of Oak Cliff on the topic, “Coffee, collaboration, farmer, and roaster.”

• The awesome Lorenzo Perkins of Cuvee Coffee will impart his competition knowledge in “Creating a USBC routine: From the journey, to the competition, to the cafe.”

Lorenzo Perkins

• And anyone who knows Sauro Dall Anglio LOVES Sauro Dall Anglio—so you’ll be excited to hear that he will teach a class, along with Garold LaRue of Avoca Coffee, called “Recipes collaboration: How to support your cafe.”

• Everybody loves talking brew methods, and the man in the know, Brant Curtis of Curtis, will be in Texas to teach on the topic “How to troubleshoot off-tasting results in any brewing method,” along with Tom Vincent of the Texas Coffee School.

And there will be much more! Anastasia will deliver, as usual, on the yummy food and drink to be served throughout the day.

Wow, so how much does an all-day event, with all this education, and tons of food and drink, cost? ANSWER: IT’S FREE! That’s right, folks, Barista Nation is always free. It’s pretty amazingly awesome.

You are asked to make a $10 donation to the nonprofit CARE, and email your receipt to baristanation@gmail.com, to confirm registration. But if $10 is still a stretch, just email and ask about scholarship options. Because Barista Nation’s motto is, of course, NO BARISTA LEFT BEHIND!!
