James Hoffmann In Portland Today for Nuova Simonelli Event

2007 World Barista Champion James Hoffmann will speak at the American Barista & Coffee School in Portland about the Nuova Simonelli T3 machine, today at 5 p.m.

It’s hard to believe the SCAA show in Boston ended on Sunday—feels like forever ago. The explosions that took place at the finish line of the Boston Marathon yesterday were incredibly tragic, and we’ve taken time to reflect on the terrible suffering occurring in the wake of these deaths and injuries. It’s truly heinous.

But it’s my feeling that while we keep those effected in our hearts and thoughts, we will do well to focus on the good things about life, the things we have to celebrate. And one of those is the Nuova Simonelli event taking place in Portland, Ore., at the American Barista & Coffee School today at 5 p.m.

Of course, Nuova Simonelli and the American Barista & Coffee School organized this event way before this horrific event at the Boston Marathon. I’m personally glad they’re not canceling it; I feel it’s important we focus on what we have to be thankful for in the face of adversity. And one of those things to be thankful for is this event tonight which brings 2007 World Barista Champion James Hoffmann to Portland in this celebration of Nuova Simonelli’s T3, which is the official espresso machine of the United States Barista Championship as well as the World Barista Championship, which takes place in May in Melbourne.

I hope to see all of our Portland coffee friends at this event tonight, at which James and Nuova Simonelli engineers will speak and take questions about this remarkable espresso machine, and there will be time to mingle, try the machine hands-on, and chat with coffee peers.

Thank you, Nuova Simonelli and the American Barista & Coffee School for hosting this event. We look forward to seeing you!
