Day 2 of the Nordic Barista Cup tour of Nicaragua was another illuminating day at coffee origin. We were lucky enough to tour Roberto’s dry mill, wet mill and his coffee farm.
Roberto is one of the first growers in Central America to use raised beds for drying his and his fellow growers’ crops at his dry mill. He is really a role model and is tireless in his work to improve specialty coffee in his homeland.
And we saw his farm which is simply amazing. For coffee fanatics, any time you see coffee growing it’s a special experience.
But to see it like this, in an ecologically sustainable farm, with well-paid pickers and workers, and to see the ripe cherries at harvest, well, it’s downright inspiring.
