Barista Mag: Before coffee, did you work in a different job or industry, or what did you study in school?

Jose Luis: I have always worked in the coffee industry.

BMag: How did you get started in coffee?

Jose Luis: I started working in a coffee kiosk in the supermarket.

BMag: What was your first amazing experience with coffee?

Jose Luis: When I really committed myself to competing and showcasing the amazing coffees that we have in Honduras.

BMag: Who has been your greatest influence in coffee? Why?

Jose Luis: Jorge Brizuela, my coach. He is always teaching me about coffee.

BMag: What would you like to see change about the coffee industry/community?

Jose Luis: I would like to see more specialty coffee shops in my country.

BMag: Name a coffee luminary (famous person) you would like to meet, and why:

Jose Luis: I’ve already met everyone!

BMag: Name a barista you admire, and why:

Jose Luis: I admire all the champs.

BMag: Do you have a favorite customer? If so, tell us about him or her.

Jose Luis: Every customer who appreciates the hard work behind the cup of coffe that I deliver is my favorite.

BMag: Besides your own cafe, what cafe do you think everyone should visit?

Jose Luis: Viva Espresso!

BMag: Which coffee producing country you would like to visit, and why?

Jose Luis: Brasil, because of the consistency in production and innovation.

BMag: What are your interests outside of coffee?

Jose Luis: My studies, playing soccer and the social networks.

BMag: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Jose Luis: As a coffee instructor managing a specialty coffee shop franchise.
