Get Up, Omaha!

Summer coffee fun brought to you by the Nebraska Barista Association!

I was stoked to hear from Kait Berreckman of Beansmith Coffee in Omaha, Nebraska, about the group of home and professional baristas she hangs out with regularly that are officially known as the Nebraska Barista Association. Kait, who leads the group, has tons of energy, and was excited to tell me about Omaha’s first-ever Thursday Night Throwdown, which will take place on July 18!

Barista Magazine is honored to be a sponsor of the event—we’re donating copies of the June+July issue of Barista Magazine (complete with an awesome how-to article about latte art), as well as prizes. Also on board as a sponsor are the kind folks at Espresso Parts.

If you’re anywhere near Omaha, it’ll be well worth your while to motor over to Aromas Coffeehouse on July 18. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with an “open gym” — that means socializing and warming up on the machines. The competition—which has space for 32 competitors with a $5 buy in—starts at 7.

Keep up with the Nebraska Barista Association on Facebook and also Twitter (@CoffeeNBA). And get your pours on at this inaugural TNT!
