Education from the World Barista Champion in Red Square

The man himself ”that would be reigning World Barista Champion Pete Licata ”is here in Red Square, Moscow, giving a captivating lecture on dosing and grinding for espresso to a group of about 30 Russian baristas.

Pete is here as the guest of Soyuz Coffee Roasting, a Russian company hosting a very special annual event where tens of thousands of espressos are prepared for Muscovites in the shadow of Saint Basil’s Cathedral.

This is the first year that the event features an educational component, but clearly it will continue on, as the sessions ”led not only by Pete, but by Stefanos Domatiotis (past Greek Barista Champion), Asli Yaman (Turkish Brewers Cup Champion), Chris Loukakis (past World Latte Art Champion), Victor Delpierre (World Cup Tasting Champion), Javier Garcia (past Spanish Barista Champion), Alejandro Mendez (past World Barista Champion), William Hernandez (El Salvador Barista Champion), and Francesco Sanapo (Italian Barista Champion ”have been insanely popular with the baristas who have traveled from all over Russia to attend.
