Definitive Guide to Pourover, by Prima Coffee

Our friends at Prima Coffee  are the best kinds of coffee professionals, in that they really live what they espouse ”these guys not only love coffee, but they’re some of the biggest coffee nerds around, and we love them for it. They’ve always been kind to barista competitors during the SCAA shows, lending equipment in a pinch, or helping a neighbor with an electrical problem. They love baristas so much, in fact, that they even put together a video that we loved about the World Barista Championship when it took place in Seattle in 2015.

Prima Coffee is also known for having awesome education on their website, just out there for anyone to look at and use. One of our all-time favorites is a guide they made for pourover  called, “A Beginner’s Guide to Pourover Coffee Brewing.”

It includes brew instructions for V60, Chemex, Kone, Bee House, Kalita Wave, Woodneck, and Walkure.  Looking through this guide today for the first time in a while, I realized no matter how many years some of us in specialty coffee have been making pourover, we could all use a tune-up every once in a while. So check it out!

(Ever thorough, Prima Coffee also offers up A Beginner’s Guide to Immersion Brewing, of course.)

  1. What a great video! It is great to see the barista championship explained and behind-the-scenes details shared, the interviews are fascinating, it really gives you an inside look into the competition and shares the comraderie and love for coffee! It is wonderful that Prima coffee have such a communal, kind attitude to coffee making and these competitions.
