Slow Food Fo Sho

I’ve been madly IMing with Brent about the trip we’re going on next week — to the Mexican Barista Championship, can’t wait! (stay tuned for news about this in the next few days) — but each message is tinged with his added excitement (and my envy) about the upcoming Slow Food Nation event in the Bay Area. Brent’s going, along with a ton of other coffee folk including curators of the coffee pavilion, Tonx, Andrew Barnett and Eileen Hassi. Coffee folk are coming from far and wide to join in the history-makin: a crew from Intelli LA is headed north, the boyz from Verve are motoring in from Santa Cruz; and a contingent from Brooklyn will head west, all set to convene in San Francisco for the event which begins on Friday.

If you’re around the Bay Area or have a way to get there by Friday, I strongly urge you to attend the event. Set to be “the largest celebration of American food and sustainability,” Slow Food Nation is no doubt going down in history. The fact that specialty coffee is playing such a big role is nothing less than spectacular.
