White is the new black?

A quick little story out of the UK today, it seems that according to reporting in the Independent the fastest growing drink segment in cafés is a 6-8oz cup with 2-3 shots and a little milk called a “flat white.”

Also of note in the story is that chains in the country (like Starbucks and Costa Coffee) have faced declining sales and shuttered shops while independent cafés which typically feature better trained baristas and higher-quality coffee have seen their business grow.

Of course there is at least one glaring error in the story, the writer states the Gwilym Davies is the first British World Barista Champion, to which we say, really?
