10 Minutes With Troy Reynard

Troy Reynard
Owner/Barista
Cosmic Cup Coffee Company
Easton, Pennsylvania

What other coffee jobs have you had?

First and only.

What’s your favorite part about working in coffee?

Interacting with customers. To me, working bar is a very social experience. Talking to long-term customers as well as new customers makes the time fly. There are few jobs where you can talk to everyone from janitors and school-bus drivers to judges and the mayor, and enjoy all of them equally.

Troy Reynard has been a beloved fixture of the specialty-coffee industry for more than a decade.

Where do you ideally see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully still working bar a couple of times a week at Cosmic Cup! It’s humbling and gratifying to have a business that has not only survived, but thrived for almost nine years. I’d love to see Cosmic Cup around for at least another 10 years!

Troy goes all out in every aspect of his life, from owning a super popular cafe, to opening a brew pub, to, um, fire jumping?

Who and what inspires you?

My employees. I’ve been so lucky to have the best employees. Their enthusiasm and professionalism are inspiring! Two years ago I had a serious health scare and they kept Cosmic Cup together while I recovered. I couldn’t do it without them.

Troy certainly does have a serious side ”though you wouldn't know it.

Drinking guaro with coffee farmers at 10 AM at 1,100 meters elevation in Costa Rica!

What do you do when you’re not doing coffee?

Working in my brew pub!
