Five legendary baristas competed in the “Diamond is a Drink’s Best Friend“ contest—now you get to choose the winner!

The celebratory Diamond Syrup honors Torani’s rich history and unwavering passion for flavor innovation, with 100% of profits from sales of Diamond Syrup going to nonprofit organizations across the U.S. that align with Torani’s mission of “flavor for all, opportunity for all.“

Acclaimed flavor manufacturer Torani is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, and they’re going big. Where the California-based company usually releases a Flavor of the Year syrup annually, Torani has released its Flavor of the Century to commemorate its centennial. And they’re doing it with diamonds, baby—Diamond Syrup, that is.

This week, Barista Magazine is proud to join the festivities with Torani’s 100th Anniversary Drink Challenge: “Diamond is a Drink’s Best Friend,“ hosted at both Torani’s and Barista Magazine’s Instagram accounts.

Five legendary coffee professionals found inspiration in Torani’s Diamond Syrup and created unique specialty drinks to mark the occasion. Check out their recipes, photos of their drinks, and their vision for each beverage in their own words via @torani and @baristamagazine on Instagram now.

It’s up to you, Instagram trendsetters, to decide which drink sounds the best. You will decide who wins by voting—or “liking”—the drink that shines brightest to you. Cast your “likes” at @torani and/or @baristamagazine from now through Friday, January 17, 2025, at 5 p.m. PST.

Really, though, each of our participants will be winners, as all five of them will walk away with a cash prize. Here’s how the awards will shake out:

• First place: $1,000 and a full-page feature in Barista Magazine’s April + May 2025 issue

• Second place: $500

• Third, fourth, and fifth place: $250 each

And we have even more reason to celebrate Torani’s Flavor of the Century: 100% of profits from sales of Diamond Syrup will go to nonprofit organizations across the United States that align with Torani’s mission of “Flavor for All, Opportunity for All.”

Through the end of 2025, the profits will be given to nonprofits that create work readiness and first job opportunities for at-risk youth, adults with intellectual disabilities, and justice-impacted individuals—communities Torani also supports through its Cafe Opportunity Fund and other give-back initiatives. Customers who buy Diamond Syrup online can select which group will benefit from their purchase.

Please note that while participants may share their slides on their personal Instagram accounts, only votes (“likes”) cast on @torani and @baristamagazine on Instagram will count toward the totals.
