Crafting coffee is a timeless art, evoking images of the classic Italian barista in a crisp white coat meticulously preparing morning espressos. While today’s baristas maintain this tradition of theatrical and personalized service, the high-growth coffee industry and evolving landscape demand consistency and innovation to satisfy discerning customers.

How can we honor tradition and exceptional hospitality while meeting the demands of coffee enthusiasts and delivering the highest-quality brews? Enter Mytico Due, developed and executed to blend heritage with innovation, thus redefining the coffee experience.

The Mytico Due from Franke Coffee Systems seamlessly balances the tradition of true Italian espresso with the quality and consistency expected by today’s discerning customers.

Launched in April as the first product in Franke Coffee Systems North America’s Beyond Traditional product category, the Mytico Due delivers the drama and excitement customers have come to expect, while benefiting operators with the labor and training savings, waste savings, and consistency that automated solutions provide.

“This innovative machine is unique in that it truly bridges the gap between traditional and automated coffee equipment, offering the beauty and elegance of traditional Italian espresso machine design and intuitive, coffee-quality focused interfaces and controls for the barista,” says Brittany Tresemer, marketing director for Franke Coffee Systems

Truly, there has never been a machine capable of delivering the ease of a super-automatic coffee system and classic Italian-style coffee tradition—and it’s never been as necessary as it is today. While customers are demanding ever-higher quality and exceptional service, operators continue to struggle to find skilled baristas in the midst of a labor shortage. This inherently leads to the inconsistencies in service and quality that drive customers away.

Franke’s engineers respect the craftsmanship of the barista, and with the Mytico Due, they have provided baristas with a tool to make achieving dependably delicious coffee drinks exceptionally easy, thereby giving them the space to showcase their personal style and flair.

To address this, Franke engineers sought to develop a machine that would honor the barista position while supplying them with functions to achieve consistency and quality effortlessly. With features including two AutoSteam Pro steam wands, which allow endless possibilities for custom milk profiles via independent control of heating and aeration; Franke’s patented  iQFlow™ technology, which manages flow rate in real-time to deliver perfect extractions from shot to shot; and customizable water temperatures that allow each drink—be it espresso, a strong black tea, or a delicate oolong—to shine, the Mytico Due is in a class all its own.

Once programmed, the machine allows baristas to “focus on maintaining eye contact, offering a friendly smile, and engaging in small talk while signature drinks are being prepared,” says 2021 World Barista Championship finalist Wojciech Tysler of Ireland.

Just ask one of the best baristas in the world what they think of it. Wojciech Tysler of Ireland earned a coveted spot in the 2021 World Barista Championship final round. With more than 17 years of experience behind an espresso machine, Wojciech knows exactly what he wants—as well as needs—an espresso machine to do.

“When we’re talking about good coffee, we need good beans, good quality water at the right temperature, a good barista, and the right coffee machine. This is where the Mytico line comes in,” says Wojciech.

He notes that the Mytico Due is a breeze to program and use, taking the guesswork out of the equation so the barista can simply input orders on the high-resolution, intuitive touch-screen display, and spend more time on customer service. With the Mytico Due, “baristas can focus on maintaining eye contact, offering a friendly smile, and engaging in small talk while signature coffee drinks are being prepared,” says Wojciech. To this barista champion, it’s a one-of-a-kind machine.
