BMag Back Atcha “ Week of March 3 “9, 2014

Hi everybody and welcome to another installment of BMag Back Atcha our weekly week-in-review blog post where you can find out all of the stuff we’ve written about over the last week. In case you missed any of it, all of the links are right here in one handy post!

We started the week on Monday with a really cool story from our friends at Cafe Imports about a soccer tournament they organized in Costa Rica on a Field of Dreams  style soccer pitch on the Aguilera  Brothers’ farm with producers and buyers. A great idea, a fun story, and a good read, all right here!

Next up on Monday we had another profile in our very popular 10 Minutes With column with  Hannah Popish the Coffee Buyer’s Agent for Counter Culture Coffee Durham, North Carolina. She’s had an interesting career in coffee, following some time in Honduras with Habitat for Humanity. Catch up with Hannah here!

Following that, on Tuesday it was time to get to know a little about  Beth Ann Caspersen, the Quality Control Manager for Equal Exchange in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts with another 10 Minutes With. She’s traveled the world working in coffee and has had some great adventures and made a real impact on people’s lives. Spend a little time with  Beth Ann here!

Also on Tuesday, we had a story about Irving Farm Coffee Roasters  in New York teaming up with Portland, Maine-based  Peak Organic Brewing Co.  to create a coffee beer. (Ken got to try some of it at the release party while in town for Coffee Fest New York, and he declared it delicious!) Read all about the tasty collaboration right here!

Then just like it seems to every week, Wednesday rolled around and with it another chance to win great prizes and have fun doing it of course with our trivia contest known as Humpday Giveaway. This week’s prize, a Clever Coffee Dripper  from Prima Coffee Equipment.  You can see the contest post here and winner announcement post from Thursday here.

Wednesday we also got to know a little more about  Jesse Myers Lead Roaster Quills Coffee  Louisville, Kentucky as he sat down for 10 Minutes With. Read about Jesse here!

Also on Wednesday, we had a little early birthday party post for the original TNT (Thursday Night Throwdown) celebrating its 6th anniversary! The anniversary throwdown will be held on March 20 back where it all started at  Octane Coffee, 1009-B Marietta St  in the ATL. If you’re anywhere near there, you’d be crazy to miss it!

Speaking of crazy, as in crazy nice, we had a 10 Minutes With  Madcap Coffee Co.‘s (and Barista Magazine contributor!) Colin Whitcomb on Thursday. Read about Colin, right here!

Also on Thursday, we had a preview post of the  North Central AeroPress Championship  in Detroit, Michigan. If you’re reading this on Sunday, the event is today! If it’s not Sunday, then you missed a terrific event! Either way you can read about it here!

On Friday, we had a chance to visit with Patrick Burns owner of  Palace Coffee Company  an up and coming coffee company down in the Lone Star State (that’s Texas for our non-US readers!). Spend 10 Minutes With Patrick here!

Friday was also the first day of Coffee Fest  New York, and we had a preview post about the always popular industry event here.

On Saturday we got to know Italian barista, coffee trainer and Barista & Farmer Project veteran Davide Cobelli a little better with a 10 Minutes With column.

So now that you’ve caught up with everything at the BMag Blog, keep coming back throughout the week to see even more stories, news and of course another chance to win a great prize with Humpday Giveaway!
