HOTELEX Chengdu to showcase specialty coffee in China August 8 “10
Thanks in large part to the success of HOTELEX Shanghai, specialty coffee in China is bigger than it has ever been, and the growth shows no signs of slowing down. It’s a perfect time, then, for HOTELEX to expand its specialty beverage promotion with a sister show, which will debut in Chengdu August 8 “12 at the Chengdu Century City Int’l Convention and Exhibition Center.
Chengdu is a major city in Western China, with more than 14 million residents. As a center for transportation, communication, and economics for the nation, Chengdu is China’s fourth most populous city. The HOTELEX show in Shanghai has become one of the most well attended and important culinary and coffee shows in Asia, and indeed the world. The time was right to expand into a new segment of China’s enthusiastic coffee market.
To give this exciting show even more of an edge, HOTELEX Chengdu will feature some popular competitions, most notable of which is the China Barista Championship division (the first of 20), which will send its winner to represent all of China at the World Barista Championship in Seattle in 2015. Indeed the China Master Bartender Competition, which will also be held at HOTELEX Chengdu, will surely draw an enormous crowd as its competitors fight with “flair-tending” skills for top marks. Finally, the China Gelato Competition, Chengdu Division, will compete for prizes, among which is automatic placement in the finals at the HOTELEX Shanghai event in 2015.
