Yeah, you know, it’s not like the guys from Nuova Simonelli were busy during the World Barista Championship and Melbourne International Coffee Expo last week… nah, they were just the exclusive espresso machine sponsor of the top coffee contest on the planet, that’s all. As usual, Nuova Simonelli sent an army of technicians and company staff to the WBC, so that anytime anyone using one of the more than 40 machines Nuova Simonelli had on the show floor, in the competition, in the prep area, at the espresso bar, and in their large booth, has an issue, a tech was right there to help.
Somehow, however, the company also made time to make a biog splash with the announcement of its new partnership with everyone’s favorite coffee nonprofit, Coffee Kids. This 25-year-old nonprofit has the following mission: “We partner with organizations that work directly with coffee-farming communities. These program partners provide technical resources, training and follow-through to communities to implement grassroots projects. We provide the resources that enable our partners and their communities to put their vision into action. All projects are designed by community members and based on their needs and priorities.”
Nuova Simonelli has been a supporter of Coffee Kids for a long time, and has even donated several espresso machines to Coffee Kids’ annual raffle. But they wanted to do something more; they wanted to make an investment into Coffee Kids that would pay off for years to come as well as secure new members for the organization.
Throughout 2013, when someone buys a Musica espresso machine, Nuova Simonelli will provide the new Musica owner with an individual membership to Coffee Kids for one year. That’s a $35 value. Nuova Simonelli has also donated four Musica espresso machines to be used in fundraising activities over the course of the year and has committed to an annual minimum donation as part of their strategic alliance agreement with Coffee Kids.
œNuova Simonelli’s new collaboration with Coffee Kids will help us to invest in more coffee-growing communities while also expanding and strengthening our own coffee community. Not only are we incredibly excited about this, we are proud and grateful that Nuova Simonelli shares our vision of an equitable and sustainable coffee future, said Elisa Kelly, development liaison for Coffee Kids.
œWe want to contribute to Coffee Kids projects and also help grow their community. This seemed to be the most sustainable way to invest in a nonprofit that we really believe in, said Maurizio Guilli, marketing director at Nuova Simonelli.
A Musica membership includes: helping to create a sustainable coffee future, annual subscription to our biannual newsletter La Voz, subscription to our monthly e-newsletter, regular updates on Coffee Kids’ projects and activities, acknowledgement in our annual report and various listings as a Musica Member, membership listing on Nuova Simonelli’s Coffee Kids page.
