Holy smokes, friends: The first Give Some Get Some giveaway raised $1,750 for virtual tipjars, healthcare organizations, and food banks. Fifty-seven people entered to win the Puqpress Q2 that Puqpress USA so generously put up as a prize. We asked folks to make a donation—no donation too small—to the virtual tipjar of their choice, or to health-care organization or food banks, and email a screenshot of the donation receipt/confirmation to us here at Barista Magazine.
Besides raising a ton of money for people who really need our help during these challenging times, the contest was joyful. It gave people something to engage with, have fun with. It provided a wonderful distraction, and not just for the people in the running to win, but to us here at Barista Magazine, too. It felt like a gift.
So let’s do it a bunch more! Today we are so excited to tell you about the very cool product that the good people of GrowlerWerks have donated to be this week’s prize. It’s a uKeg Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Maker, plus a refill kit (that includes five nitro gas chargers, 10 custom coffee filter bags, two cleaning tablets, and one cartridge seal—enough to make five batches of nitro cold brew at home. You just bring the coffee!). In total, this prize package from GrowlerWerks is worth more than $200!

Now, many of the friends we’ve made are hurting from the dramatic impact of COVID-19 on their businesses. The chance to give one person the at-home uKeg Nitro experience while helping as many people as possible with donations seems like a win-win at a time when wins are especially wonderful.”

The GrowlerWerks team is also super tapped into (pun intended) the bartender world, which is why they are giving 5% of all proceeds from sales in April to the United States Bartender Guild’s Bartender Emergency Assistance Program. So even if you don’t win, now’s the perfect time for you to buy one.
The Give Some Get Some for the uKeg Nitro starts now! All you have to do to be entered to win is make a donation (and seriously, friend, even 50 cents is OK. We know you’re all strapped for cash right now, but pulling together for the sake of our community is such a wonderful thing). Then take a screenshot of the receipt or donation confirmation, and just email it to giveget@baristamagazine.com.
This contest will run through Monday, April 13, at 12:00 p.m. Pacific time. Here’s how we determine a winner: We assign all entries a number, and then, using a random-number-generator app, the number is determined, and the person with that number wins. Easy peasy.
So get to it! Donate to your favorite café’s virtual tipjar (or donate to one you’ve never heard of—every bit helps, and you just might find a new favorite spot!), or to the health-care organization or food bank of your choice. And who knows—maybe you’ll be the proud owner of your very own uKeg Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Maker next week!
