Through a partnership with La Marzocco, Mahlkönig, and Probat, Songwa Coffee Estates Offers Paid Summer Internship in 2015
BY SARAH ALLEN
I’ll never forget the magical week I spent at the Songwa Estates in Tanzania in 2009. The partnership between La Marzocco, Mahlkönig, and Probat supports the Songwa coffee lands in the Great Rift Valley in southwest Tanzania. These three leading specialty-coffee equipment companies came together to sustain and help the communities surrounding Songwa, as well as promote the development of the coffee farm, while offering their staffs and customers the opportunity to visit and learn about coffee at its source.
As the Songwa Estates exist in part to educate and involve the global specialty-coffee community, the partnership companies seek internship candidates for the summer of 2015 to take part in the construction of a village school in the area.
“The partnership is pleasured to announce its new project to demolish and rebuild a school building at the Muvwa Primary School in the vicinity of the plantation,” reads a press release issued by La Marzocco, Mahlkönig, and Probat.
Currently, the school supports 327 students in seven classrooms with seven teachers. “We are seeking English-speaking candidates who are interested in an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to coordinate and manage the project this summer.”
The official internship candidate profile is listed below. Please note that applications are due no later than April 25, 2015.
Let me tell you, if I were able, I would apply for this in a heartbeat. Songwa is one of the most breathtaking coffee lands I have ever seen, and the work being done by the partnership companies to develop and assist the neighboring communities is nothing short of extraordinary.
