How to Pitch to Barista Magazine
To pitch to Barista Magazine Online, send an email to our online editor, Emily Joy Meneses, at emily@baristamagazine.com.
- Please write “PITCH:” at the start of your email subject line, followed by the title of your primary article pitch.
- Each email should only consist of one to three article pitches. Every article pitch should include three to five sentences about your story idea—the main topic, proposed format, people you would like to interview for the story, and why you think the topic is important to cover.
- Keep in mind that our online stories are usually 400-600 words long; when pitching, you should be prepared to keep your article (if approved by the editor) within this word count.
- Please also keep in mind that every article will need quotes from at least two different people.
- Along with your pitches, please include a short paragraph about yourself and your experience in coffee and writing.
- Please also include any relevant writing samples.
Before pitching more article ideas, please wait to hear back from us about your first pitch. Our writers are compensated for their work—if your pitch is approved, you will receive information from our online editor about our pay rates and how to proceed with the article.
We look forward to hearing from you!
