Hey homies! Can you believe the Northwest Regional Barista Competition is this weekend? Holy tamales! We’re so excited. Our intrepid field reporter Michelle Foster has been sending us chronicles from previous regionals, the Southeast and Big Central, and Sarah will be in Seattle for the Northwest Regional, and Ken heads to Santa Cruz for the Southwest in a few weeks! So much going on! And never fear, we’ll be at the Northeast Regional, too!
For the moment, though, let’s focus on the nitty gritty comin’ up in Seattle-baby, this weekend.
And even before that, let’s tip our hats to the kick-ass team at Dillanos Coffee Roasters, which is the sponsor once again of this event. THANK YOU, DILLANOS!!

Let’s not forget one very special detail about this weekend: the last man or woman standing in the Northwest Regional Barista Competition is going to effing KENYA! That’s right, can you believe it?? The amazing, fantastic, inspirational importing company Cafe Imports is once again taking all the regional competition winners, plus the U.S. Barista Championship winner, plus the World Barista Championship winner, to an exciting producing country. And for 2013, it’s mo-fo-ing KENYA. CRAZYPANTS.
Who cares about that stupid Superbowl anyway?
