Was it the heat in the WBC area multiplied by the hundred of people who showed up to hear the announcement of the barista championship finalists, or simply the knot of emotion about what was to come in the pits of all of our stomachs that made the experience of hearing the finalists’ names called so difficult? Six wonderful baristas were named to the 2008 WBC Hall of Fame, as it were, by earning high enough scores to qualify for the final round of the World Barista Championship. Bravo to all of them! But it was a sad day for the other 45 baristas who had put their hearts on the line over the course of the past three days. To those 45, we salute you and thank you for doing what you are doing.
