Baristas Bring Brew Devices, Coffee Will Be Supplied, and the Brew Battle Will Commence!
We’ll always love latte art throwdowns ”there’s something about the immediacy and excitement of the milk-art contest format that is undeniable. But that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of room for new and exciting coffee games out there, especially the kind that are designed almost specifically to bring community together by way of friendly competition between barista friends.
All of us coffee lovers here in the Pacific Northwest are getting pumped for just such an event: The NW Brew Battle! To be held May 20 at the Christopher David Experience in Portland’s Pearl District, the event is the brainchild of two local roasters: Davis Sears of Portland Roasting, and Chris Alspach of Upper Left Roasters.
“As a platform for baristas and coffee lovers alike to use their favorite manual brew method to impress three industry judges, Sears and Alspach aim to get people excited about the process of brewing coffee and the different flavor profiles that can be achieved,” reads Christopher David’s release about the event.
Competitors are to bring their own favorite manual brewing device, and the coffee they’ll brew will be provided for them, thanks to the generous support of Bespoken Coffee Roasters.
