One of Barista Magazine’s Facebook friends, Bela Bruxa, told us about an amazing Pozible project that some Aussies are currently doing to raise money to fund a Timorese coffeehouse in Melbourne. As I write this, there are only 60 hours left to assist in meeting the group’s $35,000 target ”and they’re close, with just under $25,000 already raised!
Here are the goals: The group wants to support Timor through coffee sales, which will contribute to providing wholesome and fresh meals for Timorese. They will also create a place in Melbourne where the Timorese community can meet and raise funds. Traditional Timor handicrafts will also be available; and former soldiers can learn skills in coffee as they transition back to civilian life.

In addition, the hope is that Melbournians can learn about Timor’s culture and the history that Timor and Australia share.
