We’ve been publishing Barista Magazine for more than eight years, so we’ve had the chance to see some great baristas grow from excited kids to passionate coffee professionals: Stefanos Domatiotis of Greece is one of those.
The multi-time Barista Champion of Greece is featured on the cover of our June/July issue, as well as in a feature article. Stefanos morphed from competitor to coach this year, and trained Asli Yaman for her win at the Turkish Brewers Champ. Asli just returned from Melbourne, where she turned in a wonderful performance on the international level. Asli has a lot to be proud of, but so does Stefanos.
Get to know Stefanos and the company he works for in Greece, Taf, in this issue.
But there’s a whole lot more going on in the June/July Barista Magazine!
¢ Seattle barista Cole McBride ”who placed second in the Northwest Regional Barista Competition this year, and hones his skills as a tech at Visions Espresso ”writes an in-depth article about water and its effect on coffee that’s sure to please you brainiacs out there.
¢ We’ve got a feature article about The Amazing Reg Barber! Learn all about where Reg came from and what drives him to serve the international barista community.
¢ Our whip-smart business columnist Tracy Allen tackles the topic of Start-Up Business Financing.
¢ I’m stoked about all of our Field Reports ”Miro Lomeli’s first trip to coffee origin, Honduras; and I had a blast writing about my recent trip to Milan to attend DC Campus.
But I’m especially excited about the Field Report penned by Laila Ghambari and Mohammad Khani about the Iranian barista community in Tehran. Be sure to check it out ”I guarantee you’ll be inspired.
And finally, we present to you THE DEFINITIVE ARTICLE ON LATTE ART! This story was a ton of work to put together, but our crack team ”Erin Meister, Ryan Soeder, and Daniel Thompson ”put words and photos together to make the best damn latte art troubleshooting article I could hope for. You’ll find tips from Ryan ”a past Coffee Fest Latte Art Champ ”on how to avoid mistakes and achieve beautiful pours; interviews by Erin Meister with latte art whiz kids from around the world; and simply stunning photography by Daniel, who operates out of Olympia, Washington.
So there you have it: another issue of Barista Magazine. We hope you enjoy reading as much as we loved putting it together for you. Don’t have a subscription? Then just read the whole thing online for free right here!
