Tonight in Seattle: TNT!

If you’re headed to Seattle for the Northwest Regional Barista Competition & Brewers Cup event Friday through Sunday, just get in your car now and come a day early: you don’t want to miss what will be a most epic Thursday Night Throwdown (TNT) hosted by La Marzocco! The shizz goes down from 7 “10 p.m. at 1553 NW Ballard Way, Seattle. And of course, EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

I’ve been chatting about the event with the lovely Sarah Dooley, who along with her coworker at La Marzocco, Ryan Willbur, and the guys at Atlas Importers, have been putting together an event that will be much more than a regular ol’ throwdown — see the deets below!

I’m super excited to announce that I will lend a hand in judging the latte art portion of tonight’s event! And of course, Barista Magazine will be bringing prizes for the winners, too!

Baristas, Roasters & Coffee Enthusiasts: join us for the first TNT of 2013!

It’s a multi tiered event, so you better bring a lot more then just your latte art skills to win this prize. Here’s a little teaser: we intertwined our brains with those crazy coffee nerds at Atlas Coffee Importers… ROUND 1- Latte Art, 32 competitors go head to head in a mad panic to stay in the game with latte art. 16 finalists move on SEMI FINALS-Triangulation 16 competitors move to the Triangulation Round. The winner has the most accurate in the least amount of time. Top 8 move to the finals

FINALS!!!- Grading Coffee 8 competitors cup six different coffees, correlating the predetermined score to the correct cup. Extra credit, find the defective cup!

Prizes are custom La Marzocco parts turned into every day household accessories, with a little twist.

Bring ALL your skills from pouring to cupping, and everything in between!
