Two more U.S. Regional Barista Champions claimed their titles this weekend, Katie Duris of murky coffee in Arlington, Virginia won the Mid-Atlantic regional while Amber Sather of AMS in Brooklyn, New York, took home the Northeast crown. Congratulations to them both!
You can see all of the finalists at the official USBC 2009 web site, here.
The competitions were held jointly in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania in the greater Pittsburgh region and they were hosted by Kiva Han Coffee.
Next up are the Great Lakes and Southeast Regionals. Then the whole slate of regional champions will be set, and it’s on the USBC in early March!

  1. You sure about that Ken and this isn’t just another demonstration of an SCAA Board of Director member abusing his position? Seems apropos.

  2. The competitors may live in DC and work in Virginia, in which case I think they can enter either regional. But that’s just a guess.

  3. Congrats to the competitors but how does a company whose DC store was seized by the government enter a Mid-Atlantic competition that excludes Virginia?
