We chatted with Pret’s recruiting manager, Billy Rodriguez, about why the job might be a great fit for our readers:

Barista Mag: What makes Pret A Manger great  place to work as a barista?

Billy: Our baristas are our coffee experts in our shops. They are empowered to train, coach and develop all of our team members, as well as our managers. Once hired, our baristas go through a thorough and rigorous training program. They learn how to operate our complex coffee and espresso machines, and get to interact with our fantastic customers throughout the day. We credit our baristas with generating the œbuzz that you feel each time you walk into a Pret shop.   And we are proud to offer our baristas competitive pay and excellent benefits.

BMag:  What kind of people are you looking for?

Billy: We are looking for baristas who are enthusiastic, passionate about coffee and team players. They need to be skilled at making espresso-based drinks, and confident in sharing their knowledge and expertise. And if they are skilled at latte art, that’s certainly a plus.

BMag:  Can you tell us about the unique culture at Pret a Manger that potential employees could look forward to being a part of?

Billy:  Pret is a unique company with a very strong corporate culture. We pride ourselves in recruiting the œRight Pret People and working together to achieve our greatest potential. We are constantly encouraging our employees to further their development pathways, grow within the company and reach for the stars. We have many success stories ”many of our general managers and leaders within the company started as team members ”and we are very proud of our people and enjoy rewarding them accordingly.

Thanks, Billy! Sounds like a pretty cool gig!
