Barista Mag:  Before coffee, did you work in a different job or industry, or what did you study in school?

Torfi:  I’ve done many things. I’ve been a sailor, a construction worker, a meat processor, various hotel jobs, waiter, a chef and a few other jobs as well.

BMag:  How did you get started in coffee?

Torfi:  I wanted to learn more about coffee so I got a job at The Coffee Collective

BMag:  What was your first amazing experience with coffee?

Torfi:  My first ever AeroPress. Klaus Thomsen made me an AeroPress with Kieni from Kenya and it blew my mind!!  I had never tasted coffee like that before.

BMag:  Who has been your greatest influence in coffee? Why?

Torfi:  The guys at The Coffee Collective: Peter, Klaus, Casper, and Linus.  They taught me to be a barista and taught me to roast coffee and shared their coffee knowledge and experience with me.

BMag:  What would you like to see change about the coffee industry/community?

Torfi: I would like to see our industry become more profitable for all the links in the chain to help improve the way of life for the growers, pickers and everyone else involved.

BMag:  Name a coffee luminary (famous person) you would like to meet, and why:

Torfi:  The guy from “The Craft.” He’s got passions.

BMag:  Besides your own cafe, what cafe do you think everyone should visit?

Torfi:  The Coffee Collective, Tim Wendelboe, Koppi, and so many more

BMag:  Which coffee producing country you would like to visit, and why?

Torfi:  Kenya, I love Kenyan coffee.

BMag:  What are your interests outside of coffee?

Torfi:  Food, football, travel, art, music.

BMag:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Torfi: Somewhere smiling.
