What’s Really Up with Stumptown

Now for a quick break from WBC coverage.

Yes, even here in Colombia people have been abuzz since a thinly sourced story broke earlier this week that Duane Sorenson, owner of Stumptown Coffee, sold out to some big corporation.

Though Matt Lounsbury quicky denied the report to local a Portland weekly, details of what was going on were still sketchy. Today from the New York Times’ Oliver Strand we learn a bit more:

Basically, it sounds like Stumptown is looking to actively expand it’s operations in Brooklyn. The story also mentions Chicago and San Francisco as markets Stumptown may look to add caves and roasters.

And bottom line, Duane is still firmly in charge.

It sounds like an exciting time for Stumptown and I’m looking forward to having a bottled cold brew soon.

Back to WBC coverage next.
